They stream lossless and pure audio from any worthy source

You'd think that Bluetooth 4.0 is a bit overkill for peripherals, even audio devices, but Arctic definitely wouldn't agree with you if you told it so. Exhibit A being this: the P614 BT set of wireless headphones.

The P614 BT do indeed use Bluetooth 4.0 technology in order to communicate with whatever smartphone or tablet you have nearby.

Obviously, you'll need to have Bluetooth 4.0 technology integrated into those mobile devices as well in order for the purchase of Arctic's new product to make any sense.

That means that the company doesn't have a very big market. Made worse by how high-end sound products sell pretty slowly in general, like any other top-tier hardware really.

Arctic has a straightforward solution for that, however: a wired version of the product, called simply P614.

Both products have lossless sound transmission and soft ear cushions, plus a leatherette headband that makes sure you won't feel any discomfort even after extended periods of wear.

Besides the things already mentioned, this headset boasts an NFC chip. That’s short for near field communication technology.

NFC has come to be quite popular as a way to instantly pair two different Bluetooth-enabled devices, and this is definitely the role of the tech here.

Once the BT 4.0 link has been established, you can listen to music or hold voice chats with someone, thanks to the in-line microphone.

The Bluetooth link should establish just fine even if the smartphone or tablet you are using only has Bluetooth 3.0, but the audio won't work as well, obviously. Just how big the quality gap is hasn't been elaborated on though. Alas.

As for power, there is a battery integrated into the headphone set, capable of lasting for 30 hours of constant use.

Availability and pricing

The Arctic P614 BT, like the P614, should go up for sale soon enough, but no exact arrival date or price was mentioned in the official announcement. The full product page, at least, exists, so you can arm yourself with all the information you could need to decide if it's worth getting when shipments finally do begin.

A micro USB connector is included on the bottom part of the left-hand side, just next to the volume and track controls. The USB link is there for when the power is depleted and you need to recharge the peripheral. Just how quickly it's accomplished isn't clear.
