The French manufacturer also unveiled Fusion Storage tech

MWC 2015 seems to be an event heavily focused on handsets, as two of the industry’s leaders, HTC and Samsung, have unveiled their latest flagships on the ground in Barcelona.

We haven’t seen a lot of new tablets, but Sony rolled out the first slob with a Snapdragon 810 processor on the inside, while Lenovo also had a few slates to show off.

Meanwhile, French device maker Archos also had some novelties to introduce in terms of tablets. Even if we’re not dabbing in high-end territory here, the manufacturer unveiled a family of tablets coming with an interesting characteristic.

Archos' Magnus tablets are quite spacious

The Magnus bunch is made up of three different models that run Android 4.4 KitKat, including the 101 Magnus, 94 Magnus and 101 Magnus+. While the lowest version with 64GB of storage will be sold for a meager $179 / €159, the more advanced model will be offered with up to 256GB of internal storage.

The base Archos 101 Magnus arrives with a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and bundles a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8127 quad-core processor fitted with 1GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, as we mentioned above.

Moving upwards to the Archos 94 Magnus, we get a 9.4-inch IPS tablet with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, a quad-core Rockchip RK3288 quad-core processor on the inside fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and an impressive 256GB of inbuilt storage.

Last but not least, the Archos 101 Magnus+ offers a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and a RK3288 processor combined with 2GB of RAM and “just” 128GB of internal storage.

The last two tablets both sell for $349 / €311.

Archos intros Fusion Storage

Besides the three tablets, Archos has also introduced a new technology called Fusion Storage. While Android devices typically support microSD card slots for memory expansion, users can’t install applications on the removable storage which is reserved for music, movies and such.

That’s because microSD cards feature slower read and write speeds. But in case a slower data transfer doesn’t bother you all that much, Fusion Storage is a nifty thing to have around. The tech will allow you to combine internal storage and external microSD cards space for your apps and data.

Since the Magnus bunch and Fusion Storage were announced in the same press release, we can only assume the tablets are equipped with the new technology.
