Issues get solved faster and users are happy

We knew about Apple setting up a team that had only one mission: to seek iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus problems as they arise around the world and minimize impact for other users by asking for hardware fixes or software updates.

It appears the same is available for iOS 8 too. As noted by TUAW, a Reddit user had a problem with Family Sharing. He tweeted about that, and out of the blue, he was contacted by an Apple employee who managed to solve the problem in no time.

Just a Twitter post

The user told the story of downloading iOS 8 and setting up Family Sharing. At some point, he noticed that he and his wife could not download content purchased by the other. Family Sharing is a new iOS 8 feature that lets up to six people in the same family benefit of the downloads one of them is making to get a copy of a movie, song, app or iBook for free.

So this guy posted his problem on Twitter and he was apparently approached by an Apple employee via Twitter DM. With the Apple customer service on the line, he managed to isolate the error and realized that not all iTunes and AppStore content was affected by the issue, but only a subset of that.

The Apple employee was excited because they had noticed that behavior before, but no one was able to reproduce it. And now, they've got that reproduction scenario.

How they've solved it

After a few more trials and errors, they realized that the subset of iTunes content giving him grief was something uploaded over 8 years ago and the files were not compatible with Family Sharing. Using that knowledge, the Apple engineers managed to re-encode the files and look for similar ones in iTunes so that other users will be able to use Family Sharing without any issues.

Interestingly enough, the user who posted the issue on Twitter in the first place is not a popular one, with thousands of followers. He didn't even go over 300, so when he asked how he got to be served by Apple's people so fast, he was told there was an "War Room" at Apple. Some of the employees have to search for stuff like that on Twitter and find people that have issues with Family Sharing.

Other people following the same Reddit post have added comments about similar experiences with Apple and their awesome customer support and fast problem solving skills.
