Today, March 9, 2015, Apple made history again by announcing its brand-new, ultra-slim, fanless and gorgeous Retina MacBook, as well as the first ever Apple Watch smartwatch device during its “Spring Forward” event that took place earlier today at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, USA, as we’ve reported on our live blog.

The first important thing you need to know about the Apple Watch, is that you will be able to pre-order one (or more) starting April 10, and Apple will start shipping them on April 24. The watch comes in three editions, but only two of them will be available for purchase for a long period of time, the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport, as the third one, Apple Watch Edition is available for a limited period of time (details below).

How much will an Apple Watch cost?

The second aspect you need to know about Apple Watch is the price and models, as each edition comes in two models, 38mm and 42mm. As expected, there’s a price difference between the two models, as the Apple Watch 38mm’s price will start from $549 (€500) and the Apple Watch 42mm’s price will start at $599 (€550). Yes, we’ve said “will start at” because the price can go up to $1049 (€966) for the Apple Watch 38mm and up to $1099 (€1012) for the Apple Watch 42mm, depending on the quality of the band.

On the other hand, the Apple Watch Sport edition is the cheapest of them all, as the Apple Watch Sport 38mm will cost $349 (€320) and the Apple Watch Sport 42mm will cost $399 (€365). The Apple Watch Edition is one of the most expensive smartwatches ever made, as its price can go up to $17,000 (€15660). Its case is crafted from 18-karat gold, it also available in 38mm and 42mm models with different bands.

Apple Watch is an incredibly precise timepiece, says Apple

According to Apple, the Apple Watch device is an incredibly precise timepiece that will keep time within 50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard. The device is extremely customizable, allowing the user to add or remove elements from their watch’s screen, making it more personal and meaningful. The device will offer some innovative ways to stay in touch with your friends and family, as well as a complete, smarter fitness tracker.

“Our goal has always been to make powerful technology more accessible. More relevant. And ultimately, more personal. Apple Watch represents a new chapter in the relationship people have with technology. It’s the most personal product we’ve ever made, because it’s the first one designed to be worn,” was stated on the official Apple Watch web page, where you will find more photos and more detailed information about each edition.
