With every new iOS iteration comes an iPhone, and from time to time, a new iPad as well. The company instantly couples them together for the marketing materials and quickly disposes of the ads featuring older-generation models.

This year, however, a slip-up occurred. Over at https://www.apple.com/ios/messages/ Apple is still featuring iPad 4, iPhone 5s, and even a blue iPod touch. All of these devices are capable of running iOS 8 and the ads were crafted way back in June when Apple unveiled iOS 8 for the first time at its Worldwide Developers Conference. However, something tells us these images are showing iOS 7.

To showcase some of the new features in Messages, Apple took the latest and greatest of that time and slapped the respective imagery over their screens. But when autumn came, the company quickly worked up the following page to feature the latest iDevices (iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad Air 2) coupled with the latest Messages enhancements in iOS 8: https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/messages/. The only problem was they forgot to pull the old link and the old-generation devices.

It’s easy to guess why this happened. Every year, Apple recycles these links and replaces the contents of the page with ever newer materials. This time around, instead of recycling https://www.apple.com/ios/messages/, Apple generated a new link to market Messages and iOS 8.
