No celebrity with a smartphone is safe! A new collection of illegally obtained photos has leaked online, involving even more celebrities than before. Among them is also “Twilight” and “Up in the Air” fan-favorite Anna Kendrick, theDaily Beast reports.

Several other female celebrities have also been targeted in what is now officially the biggest hacking scandal / nude photo leak of all times. An investigation is still underway to try to find the culprit, but in the meantime, the Internet is rejoicing.

All of Kendrick’s pics are decent, so there’s really no scandal here

A grand total of 87 photos, all of them of a very personal nature (but not as personal as other stars’), from Kendrick’s phone have emerged online. She’s fully dressed in all of them, and the most “revealing” shots are of her in a series of Halloween costumes, the aforementioned publication informs.

There is just one pic in which she pretends to kiss one of her girlfriends on the lips, but even that is tame in comparison to what other celebrities have been doing in the privacy of their homes, as we got to find out with the first two series of leaks.

Kendrick is yet to address the controversy, but when she does, expect it to do it with typical humor. Not that this is a laughing matter: what we’re witnessing here is a huge breach of online security.

Kendrick is not alone in this third targeted attack

Like with the previous two instances of photo leaks, several other celebrities have also been targeted and had their most personal photos and videos posted on 4chan and reddit, for all the world to see, dissect and analyze.

More nudes of Jennifer Lawrence have emerged, but also photos of Misty May-Treanor, a third-time Olympic gold medalist, model Cara Delevingne, Brooke Burns, a famous TV presenter, soap opera star Alexandra Chando, and actresses Briana Evigan, Lauren O’Neil and Kelli Garner.

The FBI is still on the case to track the person behind the hack, while Apple has already gone to great lengths to distance itself from the controversy by saying that the hacking wasn’t made possible by a bug in its iCloud storage service. This was a targeted attack, they said in a statement.

So far, a slew of female celebrities have had their photos and videos made public without their consent, including actresses, singers, models and TV personalities. Among the most famous are Jennifer Lawrence, Hope Solo, Jennie McCarthy, Kaley Cuoco, McKayla Maroney, Ariana Grande and many, many others.

Online privacy is the issue, not these women’s right to pose however they like

One argument often brought up in discussions on the topic since the first leak sounds something like, “yeah, but they took those photos and they shot those videos, they had it coming because they’re public figures and they should have been more careful with this.”

But that’s not the issue. Every one of us has the right to do whatever they like in the privacy of their own home, whether that’s lounging around in Cheeto-stained underwear / sweats and watching reruns of our favorite shows, knitting when everyone else is out partying, or taking naughty shots of our private parts and / or superbly toned figures.

We have the right to do all this and not have anyone else know about it unless we want them to. The celebrities targeted in this hacking scandal didn’t waive this right, so their photos were released without their consent, which constitutes violation of privacy. Whether you approve of their gesture of taking these naughty shots or not, they were never meant for your eyes: that’s the real problem.
