Earlier this week, we brought you a piece of good news lots of you were hotly anticipating. The international version of the HTC One (M8) was finally receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

While the news got a lot of owners of the device excited and hopeful to see the update arrive on their respective device, today HTC reveals that it will take longer than expected for some models of the HTC One M8 and One M7 smartphones to receive the Lollipop treatment.

HTC is rendered unable to hold on to its initial promise

Back when Android 5.0 officially made it to AOSP, HTC promised that it would roll out the Lollipop update to its two flagships in 90 days.

Well, it appears that this will not be the case after all, and HTC will miss the 90-day window for these devices.

So, HTC ‘s VP of Product Management Mo Versi has posted an official letter on the HTC USA website to notify users that the update will be a little late for some carrier versions of the One M7 and One M8.

HTC claims that it has made great progresses on the update so far, it’s just that Google stumbled upon many bugs that needed to be fixed. And they were eventually, but now HTC needs even more time in order to incorporate them into their code.

Bottom line is that HTC is worried about compromising usability, so it is willing to sacrifice perfect timing in order to be able to offer it in perfect form.

The company goes on to mention that they are currently testing the update with carrier partners and they hope to be able to share some good news with us soon.

While the fact that the Lollipop update is going to get delayed is pretty disappointing, it’s better than getting a super-buggy version of Android 5.0, which will end up causing tons of discomforts later on.
