Purported screenshots show Lollipop on a Galaxy Note 3

A few days ago news that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would be hitting Samsung high-end devices including the Galaxy Note 3 in early 2015 surfaced online.

But in an unexpected twist of events, if we’re to believe websites like Samsung-Viet, some Galaxy Note 3 versions might not have to wait that long.

Android 5.0 Lollipop for Galaxy Note 3 lands in Vietnam

According to the source, a Vietnamese Galaxy Note 3 user has already received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update over-the-air.

So does this mean the new Android update has started rolling out, hitting Vietnam first? In all fairness, this might as well be very possible.

After all, like with many updates, new builds start rolling out in sequences. This means different owners in different countries can be hit by the update months apart. So it could be that Vietnam’s Galaxy Note 3 host gets Lollipop now, while the rest of the world has to wait until early 2015.

On the other hand, Samsung might have slipped it out unintentionally.

It’s quite interesting to note that Samsung-Updates, a site in charge of archiving all Samsung updates immediately after they make it out, listed Lollipop for SM N900U Galaxy Note 3 model, but took it down subsequently.

At this point it’s not exactly clear what’s going on, but I’ll keep you updated on the story as more details become available.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop preview already leaked

Anyway, not so long ago we got to take a look at an exclusive preview showing us how Android 5.0 Lollipop looks like on the Galaxy Note 3. Before the build started rolling out for the Galaxy S5, we also got a sneak peek of Lollipop on top of the handset.

Overall, the Galaxy Note 3 seems to have captured the same dose of Material Design colors and tweaks, plus some general enhancements of TouchWiz. As you can see in gallery, the blurry screenshots provided by the current source seem to be quite reminiscent of what we've seen a while ago.

Lollipop on the Galaxy Note 3 is also expected to bring new animations which are smoother than before. However, you shouldn't be surprised to find that the core green elements in Lollipop have been replaced by Samsung’s signature blue color.

Anyway, we know most of you are pretty excited about getting Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Note 3 and hopefully the presence of the OTA in Vietnam means Samsung wants to offer as a nice surprise this Christmas.
