One of the things that Android users have been complaining about intensely shortly after the Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out into the wild is Google’s failure to include Mute of Silent mode.

It might have been a flop or a thought-out move, but Google has yet to provide any real clarifications on the matter.

In the meantime, users had to make do without having the handy silence-all-sounds feature, which allowed one to stay connected to the virtual world without bothering others in the process.

Ever since the first reference to Android 5.1 popped up into the wild, we have been hoping that Google will bring back Silent Mode with the new update, but this speculation remains unconfirmed to this day. However, a bunch of Android One smartphones running this particular build have been spotted into the wild.

Samsung hasn't forgotten about Silent Mode like Google did

While we wait for Google to do the right thing, we turn our attention in Samsung’s direction. As we reported, the Galaxy Note Edge has started receiving the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Australia, seemingly as part of a soak test.

If everything goes according to plan, the new build will be rolled out to further territories in the upcoming weeks.

Well, those who have taken the time to update their Galaxy Note Edge to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop might have already noticed something that will make them very happy.

As Sam Mobile reports, if you check the notification tray, you’ll notice Mute mode is present as a quick setting toggle. That’s pretty exciting, right?

While the majority of Android enthusiasts argue that stock Android is the way to go, it’s in times like these that we can learn to appreciate customized versions of Android like Samsung’s TouchWiz.

According to reports coming from Galaxy Note 4 owners who have updated to the latest Android build, Silent Mode is not available on their particular handset, which is a bit odd.

In the meanwhile, we still hope Google will make things right again with its upcoming updates.

After all, Android 5.1 is just around the corner and apparently so is Android 5.2 (which just got spotted on the Nexus 5 in Geekbench).
