Android Jelly Bean seems to be the version of Android that stuck around the most. Even as Android 5.0 Lollipop has been launched, some devices continue to run the outdated operating system.

Even worse, some device manufacturers think it is OK to continue to launch products with older version of Android. If you don’t believe us, Audiovox has just rolled out an 8-inch tablet that runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Luckily, these aren't frequent occurrences, but it doesn't change the fact that there are still a lot of devices out there stuck to Jelly Bean. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, a product which has been quite popular with consumers.

AT&T model of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 getting KitKat update

The Galaxy Note 8 comes pre-loaded with Jelly Bean and the AT&T model has been locked on this particular version of Android until now.

We’re guessing later is better than never when it comes to software updates. Samsung has announced the Android 4.4.2 update is currently rolling out for the Galaxy Note 8 tablet from AT&T.

According to the official change log, the new build comes with multiple security patches, a new multi-user mode, GMS app update and Beat Music app pre-loaded.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, because the new build will bring all the typical KitKat goodness to the table, including transparent status and navigation bars, white status bar icons, immersive mode, cloud printing, new Location menu, full screen album and movie art in lock screen and lots of fun colorful emoji.

Some users might get it sooner than others

Like with all updates arriving over-the-air (OTA), the new build will arrive in stages, which means KitKat will hit different devices at different times, depending on your location.

Once the new build becomes available for your device, you will receive a notifications saying the update has arrived. When that happens, you’ll have to tap on it and choose “Download down.”

Once this part has been completed, you’ll be able to proceed to Installation, just make sure your tablet is charged above 50% so you don’t run out of juice while you’re updating.

In case the update takes longer than expected to arrive, you can always take the proactive approach and check under Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for software updates to see if anything juicy is waiting for you.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 saw the light of day back in 2013. It arrived with an 8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and a Samsung Exynos 441 quad-core chipset on the inside. If you got your model from AT&T, we wish you happy updating.
