The bad news continue to drop in the gaming industry, as another developer has just announced it has decided to delay its game to a later date.

Developer Harmonix, makers of Rock Band, announced its Kickstarter backers that they are now targeting a summer release for Amplitude, the game they are currently working on.

Amplitude is a reboot of a 2003 rhythm game launched on the PlayStation 3 with lots of fans, and since these types of games made a come-back in the last couple of years, Harmonix thought it would be fun to remaster one of the older popular games.

Well, it seems that Amplitude looks like a good choice as the game was funded on Kickstarter and raised almost $1M (€800.000) during the 30-day campaign.

The new Amplitude game is supposed to arrive this year on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, but instead of being launched in March, developer Harmonix has announced it's now targeting a summer release.

Due to lack of experience on PS4 development, Harmonix had to move the release date

According to the developers, the Amplitude reboot is their first project on PlayStation 4 “and it's been a big learning experience for the team. We’ve put a lot of work into our proprietary engine to support some of the new, awesome content we’re bringing to the reboot. These factors combined have bumped production out a few additional months.”

So, basically, Harmonix did not have any experience developing for the PlayStation 4 and the initial release date was clearly given with too much optimism.

Moreover, the folks involved in the title’s creation state that the leverage Kickstarter backers have given to them by funding Amplitude will enable them to make the game fans really want without having to “cut any corners” and “stay true” to their vision.

At the end of the Kickstarter update, Harmonix promises Amplitude fans that a far more polished multiplayer mode will be available for hands-on at PAX.

So, that's it folks, if you have already supported Amplitude on Kickstarter, you probably know by now that you won't be receiving your rhythm game in March. However, look forward for it this summer.
