The team at Nintendo in charge of the Amiibo evolution is ready to announce that it has plans to manufacture and ship more figures to the United States in the coming months in order to make sure that availability problems are eliminated.

The company explains on the official Facebook announcement that it has seen bigger sales than expected and apologizes to all those who have failed to get their favorite toy they wanted to use in a game.

At the same time, Nintendo says that improved manufacturing and better communication will help it make sure that it keeps up with demand in the future.

It adds, "As our library of amiibo continues to grow, some figures will be easier to find than others. We are constantly looking for the opportunity to reissue amiibo and are already making plans to bring back some currently out-of-stock amiibo figures. Stay tuned for details."

The company is also promising more updates via social media and other channels to make sure that gamers know exactly when to order a new Amiibo and when they can pick it up from a store.

In the coming months, Nintendo is aiming to introduce Animal Crossing-based figures and a new Wii U app, called Amiibo tap.

It will be introduced for free and will give gamers more options to organize their figures and see their capabilities.

The Amiibo line is a money maker for Nintendo

Fans have been relatively critical of the company during the past few months, accusing it that it was artificially creating scarcity in order to make more money from its products.

The Amiibo initiative seemed like an afterthought for Nintendo, who is at the moment looking to find new ways to improve sales of the Wii U home console.

The figures do serve some gameplay functions, but most fans are driven to collect them by the sheer need to have a complete line-up in their homes.

Nintendo has not yet said how the various re-issues will work and whether it will work with stores to make sure that all placed pre-orders are honored.

In the coming months, the company is expected to offer more details about its future hardware launches, which might have a bigger role for the Amiibo concept.
