After adding a new branch to its online marketplace platform where you can buy basically anything, Amazon has revealed that it plans to expand its services and open a section which enables businesses to do their shopping more efficiently.

The e-commerce site announced that Amazon Business is specially designed for businesses. Prentis Wilson, vice president of Amazon Business, declared in the official press release that they had come up with the idea based on the feedback from some of their customers who expressed their desire to do their online shopping for their companies as easy as they are currently doing it for their homes.

However, people are now wondering what will happen to Amazon Supply given that this platform has officially been made redundant following the launch of this brand-new service. The company is bound to have it gradually migrate to the new platform.

Since the site was not bringing much profit to the company, Amazon took the decision to concentrate more on creating a whole new platform which provides easy access to many more products, "from IT and lab equipment to education and food service supplies."

The new platform offers more advantages for businesses

Business owners will have to sign up for an account in order to be able to buy the product and the registration is free.

Furthermore, the same company will be allowed to create more than one account, in case there are several representatives handling the acquisition of products.

Amazon also announced they are working on a tool called LiveExperts which will allow consumers to get in touch via chat with representatives from the companies selling their products in case they want to find out more details about a specific product or if they need some advice.

The launch of this new platform represents a lucrative move for Amazon given that the company is likely to increase its profits considerably from its business-to-business approach.
