The Linux gaming market is getting much bigger

This year’s Steam Summer Sale is probably one of the biggest put together by Valve so far, and it looks like Linux is also present in a way that will certainly get noticed. All of the games in the Top Sellers chart have Linux support.

In the previous summer sales, it was rather difficult to find games with Linux support, but the number of games that can be played natively on Linux has been increasing constantly, month after month. This is somewhat paradoxical if we consider the fact that the number of Steam for Linux users has been dropping for the last couple of months.

However, if all goes well, we should see an increase in the number of Steam for Linux players who just bought a ton of new games.

If you scroll through all the offers on the Steam website, you will see that there are a few categories like Popular New Releases, Top Sellers, Upcoming, Under $10, and Under $5. Those prices will vary depending on your area, and in Europe, they will be expressed in Euros. In any case, the Top Sellers category shows us what titles have been sold the most in the past 24 hours, and the discounts are taken into consideration.

All the games in Top Sellers have Linux support

There are 20 titles in total in the Top Sellers category, and at the time of writing this article, all the games mentioned there could be played on Linux, or at least had Linux as a supported platform. We should mention here that Steam lists a game with Linux support even if it's just announced and not implemented yet.

A couple of the games on that list are still in Early Access and it will take a while until they become stable, others have been around for a long time, and a few of them have been released recently. For example, the first one listed is The Talos Principle from Croteam, the developers of Serious Sam, and it has been around for less than six months.

It's worth pointing out that the Top Sellers list can change at any minute, but it's cool to know that it even happened once.
