14 DAY TRIAL // Ubisoft announces that its free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena title AirMech Arena is headed to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles this spring.
The competitive real-time strategy title will be free on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, and will enable users to take control of powerful transforming weapons known as AirMechs.
They will have to protect bases and launch assaults on enemy fortresses by using up to nine available AirMechs, commanding them and deploying defensive units from the air or engaging armies on the front line on the ground.
As players gain victories and experience, they will earn kudos, the in-game currency, which will enable them to unlock upgrades and new units and pilots, expanding their collection and adding a bit of style with exclusive skins and effects.
Furthermore, AirMech Arena allows users to complete quests and earn rewards in cooperative or solo games, and those who feel up to the task can also test their skills in ranked matches or gain valuable combat training in the unranked mode.
Another great free-to-play multiplayer game on consoles
The game relies heavily on teamwork, and allies have to communicate and coordinate in order to take down opponents and achieve victory, managing resources and protecting their bases while capturing their enemies' territory.
In addition to this, AirMech Arena also supports spectator mode that enables users to view each other’s matches and even see the top players engaged in competitive action.
The game offers a blend of Dota and Starcraft style gameplay, and is a welcome addition to both new-gen consoles, given the current lack of variety when it comes to MOBA games on either platform.
