Since the audio leak in which American actor Stephen Collins can be heard admitting that he exposed himself to several underage girls over the years, the media has gone crazy with speculations that he was going to be in a lot of trouble with the law.

Collins, who is most famous for playing the patriarch priest on the long-running series “7th Heaven,” has recently come into the limelight for all the wrong reasons. In the leaked audio, he can be heard “admitting” of exposing himself to young girls. The recording was made in secret during a marriage session.

Because most of the incidents took place decades ago, the police are finding it hard to charge Collins with anything

He goes on saying that he had been exposing himself to young girl between the ages of 11 and 13 in the United States. Surely, for such a crime, the actor was going to go to jail. It turns out that he might very well walk away scot-free.

TMZ is saying that local law enforcement agencies don't think his case is going to be prosecuted, despite the fact that many girls have come forward to admit that they have all been subjected to the same abuse. The general feel is that the cases will be buried because they are all from decades ago.

Basically, because of the statute of limitations means that Collins might not even need a lawyer in this whole scandal. But at least one woman who reported the assault in 2012 to detective of the NY police that took place in the 1970, is believed to have given law enforcement a viable case.

Collins is already having a bad time in his career and his marriage because of the audio leak

The detectives are now struggling to cope with the statute of limitations and make sure they can present a solid case to a judge. But even if Collins is not to be prosecuted, he will still, most likely, have to present himself in court over the molestation issue.

His wife, Faye Grant, has already filed for divorce and she is expected to address the issue while in court, presumably to try and get a better chance of protecting her part of the assets, in case one of the victims decides to file suit and demands payment.

The funny thing is that Collin's own lawyers are also expected to raise the issue because Collins still thinks that she deliberately leaked the audio in order to extort him for more money.

Meanwhile, the only certain thing is that Collins' career is pretty much over, as the actor was dropped from several movie projects and his series, “7th Heaven” has stopped playing on several cable channels, hurting his syndication income.
