The new laptop will be made available on the market soon

A while ago, Google finally rolled out the second-generation Chromebook Pixel we had all been eagerly waiting for.

The notebook is the second to take advantage of the new USB Type-C standard (the first was the new MacBook with Retina Display), so it’s a pretty interesting affair overall. The new Pixel is powered by a 2.2GHz Intel Core i5 processor from the Broadwell family and will cost you a hefty $999 / €941.

But what if you want a Chromebook with an Intel Core i5 Broadwell processor on board, but you don’t have all that cash to spend?

Then you’d better look in the direction of Acer. The company is pretty well-known for its budget products, so naturally, you are bound to pay a lot less.

The Acer Chromebook 15 was introduced back in January when we were told that the laptop would arrive with either Celeron or Core i3 Broadwell processors.

Now, the more advanced version of the notebook is on its way, as the model has been listed with several retailers. The 15.6-inch model seems to be offered with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, although a post on Google Plus seems to indicate that the Acer Chromebook 15 with Core i5-5200U will take advantage of a more advanced 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

All things considered, the Acer Chromebook 15 might perform as fast as the Chromebook Pixel, although the latter comes with a beautiful 12.8-inch display with 2560 x 1700 pixel resolution.

It also has a smaller, lighter case, and naturally, better build quality. And a much higher price to go with all that, as well.

As for the Acer Chromebook 15, it takes advantage of 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 ports and has upwards-facing stereo speakers located on either side of the keyboard.

The new model will be going out to customers with a price tag of about $500 / €471, which is half as much as the Chromebook Pixel 2015.

We’re still waiting for Acer to officially announce the new laptop, so we can’t tell you much about availability dates at the moment.
