The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages

LG G2 is one of the many smartphones to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update this week. Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, and many other smartphones have gotten upgraded to Lollipop in the United States in the last couple of days.

The G2 was launched in the US through multiple carriers, but we didn't think that at least two of them would provide customers with the highly anticipated update at the same time.

AT&T and T-Mobile have just confirmed that Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G2 is available for download beginning April 14. According to T-Mobile, the update should be available between April 14 and May 22, which means that it will take more than a month for the Magenta carrier to deliver it to all G2 devices.

We can't say the same thing about AT&T, as the carrier only mentions that the update is available for download FOTA (firmware over the air) beginning April 14.

There should be no impact on settings or data after update

Besides the usual new features and improvements included in Android 5.0 Lollipop, the update should also remove the Browser Bar and Famigo apps, as well as the AT&T Code Scanner and Beats Music from the AT&T version of LG G2.

There aren't any specific changes for the T-Mobile G2, but the carrier confirms that the size of the files is around 620MB, so make sure that you have enough storage before attempting to upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

If you haven't been notified on the update yet, then you can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About phone / Software update / Update now.

As mentioned earlier, the rollout of the update will take more than a month at T-Mobile, and probably several days at AT&T, so if it's not available right away, then you should check back later.
