Ronimo Games announces the release of the Frozen Frontier game update for Awesomenauts Assemble on the PlayStation 4, adding a ton of new features.

Awesomenauts is a two-dimensional multiplayer online battle arena game, offering the same content found in popular titles such as Valve's Dota 2 or Riot Games' League of Legends, but from a completely different perspective.

The game takes all the trappings of the MOBA genre, including symmetrical maps, creep waves, several turrets to take down, and a destructible core for each team, the loss of which leads to defeat, and spices things up with a healthy dose of platforming action.

There are plenty of different heroes to choose from, from stalwart melee brawlers to devious assassins that can sneak up on unsuspecting enemies and finish them off within seconds, everything embellished by a cutesy cartoonish look.

The game was initially released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012, and since then, it has made the jump to Windows PC, Mac OS X and Linux, also landing on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony a year ago, in March 2014.

Loads of new content

The update is live now on the PlayStation Network, and includes a brand new free character, the Scoop of Justice, a tanky melee character able to trap enemies with his Frozen Hammer, and to heal himself with his Bindings of Justice.

Frozen Frontier, also known as update 1.3, replaces the in-game loadout system with Zork's Mega Shop, where you can select your items during the match, from your full arsenal, instead of having to select your loadout before entering the game.

Furthermore, AI Station 404 has been replaced with AI Station 205, a slightly similar map, featuring two lanes and an Inferno Generator at the center, burning everyone foolish enough to stay within the blast zone to a crisp.

The update also delivers a ton of community-created AIs for you to play against, providing a beefier challenge than the earlier bots.

The update also comes with loads of new skins for players to try out, some new menu music, and several gameplay tweaks, including bigger rewards for killing somebody during a match.
