Ellen DeGeneres was previously rumored to return as host

It seems that previous speculations regarding the fact that Ellen DeGeneres could return to emcee the 2015 Academy Awards were off the mark. Next year's Oscars are instead going to be hosted by the talented actor Neil Patrick Harris, who has helmed the Tonys and the Emmys in recent years, proving that he has what it takes to see the job done, and done well.

The announcement was made by Patrick himself in a video on MobyPictures. Of course he had to make it into a funny skit. In it, he is seen answering his cellphone by saying “I'm in.” The camera then zooms on a Notepad on which it stands written “NPH's Bucket List.”

Also on the list are funny things like “Jump out of a plane,” “move to NYC,” “win a Tony Award” and “sleep in Cinderella's castle.” The very last entry is “host the Oscars” and Harris can be seen circling it.

He is going to have his work cut out for him because last year Ellen DeGeneres killed it with her wild antics, such as delivering actual pizza to the Oscars and taking a selfie that went on to become the most famous picture on the Internet.
