The team in charge of the Origin digital distribution service at Electronic Arts is announcing that more than 1.1 billion hours were spent using it during the past year, while also offering gamers a look at some other statistics associated with it.

The official blog post highlights some of the most interesting titles that were launched last year and how they impacted the enjoyment of players, who have logged in no less than 1.7 billion sessions in 12 months.

The Origin team explains, “The Origin Community couldn't have achieved such awesome feats without your continued feedback and support. We're genuinely thankful for each and every one of our Origin members. Without all of you, we wouldn't exist. 2015 has a lot of great stuff in store for Origin.”

In 2014, the team introduced the game time concept, which is designed to allow gamers to test popular titles, including Titanfall, for a set period of time in order to see what it has to offer when it comes to mechanics.

At the same time, Electronic Arts is offering free older games to the community at certain intervals, which is a nice way of popularizing the Origin service for those who might not be aware of its existence.

Electronic Arts has been seeing solid success with Origin and EA Access

But the biggest digital-focused effort for Electronic Arts in 2014 was the launch of the EA Access service, which is at the moment offered on the Xbox One.

Those who are willing to pay a subscription to it are able to get access to a number of titles that are included in the Vault for free, and they can also test out coming launches for a six-hour period using all the core features.

Finally, EA Access subscribers can also get price cuts for titles that they order on the Xbox One.

The concept would also be well suited for the PC, where it could probably enhance the popularity of the Origin concept, but the company has not yet announced plans to integrate the two or at least bring the very cool Vault feature over to the PC.
