Opera Software has just announced that a new major update is now available for its Android browser, which can be downloaded via Google Play Store.

The most important change is the addition of Opera Turbo mode. The new feature replaces the Off-Road mode toggle, which will be powered by Opera's Turbo servers.

According to developers, in previous versions of its Android browser, when choosing Off-Road mode the application would compress and render the webpage on the Mini servers, and then it would be sent to the browser.

While this was very good for customers since it could save a lot of data, in some cases there were site-compatibility issues. But with the replacement of Off-Road mode, this won't be the case anymore.

With the new Opera Turbo mode, the Android browser will be able to compress page content as much as possible directly on Opera Turbo servers, but the page rendering will happen directly on the smartphone.

Some stability and usability improvements have been implemented too

This will completely remove any site-compatibility issues that were affecting the browse in the previous versions. On top of that, even pages with complex interactions and animations will work smoother than before.

Another improvement included in this update is tab syncing. The new version of Opera for Android can sync tabs with other Opera instances. The only thing users will need to do is click the computer-with-arrows icon in the bottom-left corner on the tab switcher.

Last but not least, Opera for Android now features automatic text-wrap. The new option has been enabled by default in this release. 64-bit support has been added as well, along with a new progress bar.

You can now download Opera for Android 29 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
