A new Opera version has been released for Linux users

The development version of the Opera Internet browser has been updated yet again and Linux users have something to look out for, especially if they like the Hangout app from Google.

As most of you already know, Opera is now based on Chromium, which means that it shares many of the features with Google Chrome. On the other hand, Google has just released the Hangout webapp that acts pretty much like its mobile counterpart. The thing is that, until recently, it only ran if you had Google Chrome installed, but it looks like Opera is also supporting it now.

In any case, very few Linux users actually expressed their interest in this Hangout app and it doesn't have too much success, not to mention the fact that it's trying to take over the desktop by setting itself as always on top. It can be fixed, but it's an annoying assumption from Google.

"Another update to Opera 27 on our development stream. Lots of small fixes, improvements and tweaks, particularly to sync and the tab menu. In addition, the Hangouts PPAPI plugin is now detected on Linux," write the devs on the official blog.

More details about this release can be found on the official website. You can download the latest Opera 27.0.1683.0 version from Softpedia.
