These days when you plan to purchase a new smartphone, you have plenty of options to look into. However, some models are more intriguing than others.

The OnePlus One smartphone is one of those models you should definitely take a second look at. The handset was originally launched as the “flagship killer” and quickly become a hit with consumers not only in China but also in countries such as the United States, where demand rapidly surpassed the supply.

OnePlus One’s atypical ordering system probably contributed very much to the success of the handset. To buy a OnePlus device, customers first needed an invite. Only after the invite was available were they able to log into the website and make your purchase.

Everyone who ever purchased a OnePlus One smartphone was awarded a bunch of invites they had the possibility of offering to friends and family.

OnePlus shipped up to 1 million handsets

Despite the “elitist” ordering system, OnePlus managed to push its only handset into glory. As reported by Phone Arena, the Chinese device maker sold up to 1 million units in 2014, which is pretty amazing for a company as small as OnePlus that sells only one product.

The OnePlus One smartphone arrives bundled with Cyanogen’s custom ROM, but the company’s future products won’t be taking advantage of the same treatment.

Cyanogen has currently setup up an exclusive deal in India with Micromax, so OnePlus One has announced it was building its own custom ROM, which fans of OnePlus are invited to help name.

The company has confirmed working on the OnePlus Two smartphone, which is expected to “surprise people.” Word on the street also whispered that the device maker was also looking to introduce a mini version of their flagship.

As for tablets, the OnePlus has no plans whatsoever as to bring such a product on the market anytime soon.
