Exactly! OnePlus actually has several new and exciting things to share with us. First of all, the company unveiled a portable power source called the Power Bank which brings additional 10,000 mAh to the table. It will become available in Sild White and Sandstone Black and you’ll be able to pick it up next year for $14.99 / €12.
On top of that, OnePlus is opening up orders for their OnePlus One handset and you don’t even need an invite (like before) to be able to purchase this great smartphone. OnePlus custom ROM will be close to stock
But the most interesting part of today’s announcement is that OnePlus is working on their own custom ROM.
As you probably heard, OnePlus and Cyanogen will no longer be doing business together, so CyanogenMod ROM will be absent from the company’s future OnePlus devices. Cyanogen has chosen to form an exclusive partnership with India’s Micromax for their Yu series of smartphones.
So now OnePlus has been left to fend for itself in the custom ROM department. There has been speculation that OnePlus will end up adopting Oppo’s ColorOS instead, but it appears this is not the case.
OnePlus has officially announced they are working on their own custom ROM, which will apparently be close to stock, but we won’t be able to see traces of it until early next year.
Get creative and name the next OnePlus custom ROM
To spice things up even more, OnePlus is giving you the chance to come up with the name for the ROM and in the process win a trip to Hong Kong, where you will meet with the team.
You’ll also be awarded a OnePlus One handset and OnePlus Power Bank. The prize seems pretty great, so you better gather up all your friends and start brainstorming ideas.
Interestingly enough, just a while ago rumors surfaced, according to which OnePlus is working towards bringing to the market a Mini version of the One smartphone. Will it have the new custom ROM on top? We can only dream.
