Gameplay experience would be too bad for these smartphones

We don't have an exact number of apps and games for Windows Phone platform that don't work on devices equipped with 512MB of RAM, but we're pretty sure the amount will go up as each day more games are launched in Windows Phone Store.

It's inevitable that some of them will require certain hardware to run well, and one of the most needed resources is the amount of RAM.

Even though Windows Phone works perfectly well on devices powered by 512MB of RAM because the platform is very well optimized, there are some apps and games that simply won't work.

One of these games is Overkill 3, which was recently launched in Windows Phone Store by the folks over at Game Troopers.

Since the game features “console quality graphics,” it would have been hard for developers to make it work on low-specced Windows Phone handsets.

Upgrading to a better device is the only way to play Overkill 3

Even if that would have been possible, the game probably wouldn't have looked that good on these devices since Game Troopers would have downgraded the graphics or probably cut out some gameplay features.

All in all, Game Troopers recently confirmed that Overkill 3 will never support devices equipped with 512MB of RAM. Here is their official statement:

“Unfortunately Overkill 3 won't support 512mb devices ever. Even while it could optimize memory, the performance on some devices is too bad.”

That's quite unfortunate, but not surprising. There will be many other games in the same situation, so Windows Phone users that own 512MB devices might want to consider upgrading to a slightly better smartphone.

But if you own a smartphone with at least 1GB of RAM, you can now download Overkill 3 for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The game is fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up, and pack at least 1GB of RAM inside.
