Do you happen to have Nokia’s HERE Maps application installed on your Android smartphone? Then you will be pleased to know that the developers have just released an important update that should fix some of the nastier bugs from the previous version.

More importantly, with the latest update, HERE, a Nokia subsidiary, wants to make sure that those who have the chance to install Android 5.0 Lollipop on their smartphone as soon as Google releases it will also be able to run Maps without any issues.

Basically, the update adds full support for Android 5.0 Lollipop, so Nexus 5 & 4 owners who will probably be among the first to receive the update shouldn’t have to worry that the HERE Maps app won’t work smoothly with this version of the platform.

“With Android Lollipop being released earlier this week and knowing how many of you love to have the latest software on your phone, we made sure that HERE for Android plays nicely with it,” says HERE’s Jere Suikkila in a blog post.

HERE also confirms that its navigation app has been downloaded by almost 1 million Android users and it’s been rated with 4 out of 5 stars in the Samsung Galaxy App Store.

Based on user feedback, the developers have been able to identify some major bugs, which have been fixed in this new build.

At least two major bugs have been addressed in the update

One of these bugs removed all the voices used during turn-by-turn navigation when using a “cache cleaner” app on the smartphone. However, once you update to the latest version of HERE Maps, the downloaded voice files won’t be removed by another app anymore.

Still, you will have to re-download any non-English voices that you might have previously installed on your phone in order for the fix to work.

Another bug that stopped the application from starting has been fixed as well, and the developers confirm that they “are looking forward to hearing what early fans of Android Lollipop think about HERE for Android.”

One of the many requests coming from users suggests that HERE should bring new languages. Well, developers announce that they will actually consider this feature for future versions, so there you have it.

In order to download the latest version of HERE Maps for Android from your smartphone, you will have to visit the official website. After the download completes, simply head over to Downloads folder where the apk file should be stored and tap on it to install it.

If you already have HERE Maps for Android installed on your smartphone, you will have to open the application to update to the latest version.
