We reported last month that Nokia Lumia 635 is the best-selling Windows Phone handset in the United States with 23.4% market share, followed by Lumia 521 and Lumia 520.

April brought Nokia Lumia 635 another win and another increase in market share. The Lumia 635 was released back in June 2014 and ships with Windows Phone 8.1 right out of the box.

Since then, Microsoft launched several other mid-range and entry-level Windows Phone handsets, but it looks like the Lumia 635 is the most appealing to customers in the United States.

According to AdDuplex Windows Phone statistics for April, Nokia Lumia 635 grabbed no less than 26.8% market share in the United States. Nokia Lumia 521 maintains on the second place with 13.2%, followed closely by Nokia Lumia 520 with 8.6%.

However, Lumia 520 and Lumia 521 market shares decreased in April, which means that many owners have decided to upgrade to a better Windows Phone handset like Lumia 635, or switched to other platforms.

Lumia 920 is still the most popular high-end Windows Phone

The first five places are taken by the some of the cheapest Lumia smartphone launched by Microsoft, while the most popular high-end Windows Phone device, Lumia 920 is on sixth place.

Lumia 928 has 3.7% market share, Lumia 1020 only 3.3%, while Lumia1520 is tagged with 3.3% market share as well. Nokia Lumia 822 is last with only 3% market share.

The numbers published in AdDuplex Windows Phone statistics indicate that the “other” category of smartphones available in the United States has increased by 0.8%.

The slight increase is due to BLU's recent Windows Phone releases, which seem to have appealed to a lot of consumers in the United States.

Microsoft is expected to release Windows 10 for Phones later this summer. New smartphones will be announced around the same timeframe.
