Microsoft and AT&T do no list the phone anymore

Nokia and Microsoft launched the Lumia 1520 back in October 2013 and released it on the market one month later. Since then, this has remained Microsoft's current flagship smartphone, along with the Lumia 930.

It may sound strange, but Microsoft did not launch another high-end smartphone that would offer better specs than the Lumia 1520 since late 2013.

We do have the company's promise that a new flagship smartphone will be launched this year soon after Windows 10 for Phones gets released, which should happen later this summer.

Until then though, Microsoft seems to have pulled the Lumia 1520 from its official online store in the United States. Another report also confirms that AT&T discontinued the smartphone as well.

This means that customers in the United States will only be able to grab the Lumia 1520 from a few remaining retailers that still have it in its portfolio, but not for long.

Lumia 1520 stocks may have been depleted

The removal of the Lumia 1520 from AT&T and Microsoft could mean that one thing: one or more high-end Windows Phones should be launched in the US in the coming months.

Perhaps Microsoft wants to ensure that customers that are now looking for a flagship handset powered by Windows Phone will be forced to wait until this fall when more Lumia high-end smartphones are supposed to go on sale.

And let's not forget the most obvious reason, which is the fact that Microsoft's Lumia 1520 stocks may have been depleted and the company does not plan to continue to make the smartphone.

That certainly would make sense since Microsoft is now preparing their manufacturing lines for the new flagships that should be announced in the coming months.

So, even if this might sound as bad news for Windows Phone fans, it shouldn't surprise anyone. Two years for a flagship smartphone is a long time these days, and Lumia 1520 needs a replacement soon.
