Microsoft announced the cheapest feature phone with Internet access back in early January and promised that the handset would go on sale in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia some time in Q1 2015.

True to its promise, the handset has just gone on sale in India, which becomes the first country to receive the Nokia 215. The only downside would be the fact that the phone is slightly more expensive that what Microsoft previously announced.

Although Nokia 215's suggested retail price was set to $29 (€25), customers in India can now order the handset via Microsoft webstore for Rs 2,149, which is about $35 or €30.

Even so, the feature phone is one of the cheapest on the market, and according to Microsoft, the most affordable Internet mobile phone.

The handset is available in two variants: single SIM and dual SIM. Customers can also choose from three different colors: black, green and white.

MicroSD card, dual-SIM support and long battery life are Nokia 215's highlights

Specs-wise, Nokia 215 offers decent features for such a low price. Apart from EDGE support (sorry, no 3G connectivity), the Nokia 215 sports a 2.4-inch display that supports QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) resolution.

Unfortunately, the phone only packs a VGA camera on the back and no camera in the front, it does come with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Both single SIM and dual SIM variants of the Nokia 215 are powered by 1,100 mAh battery, but they offer different battery times. The former offers 29 days of standby time, while the latter provides only 21 days of standby time. Both phones should offer around 20 hours of talk time.

When it comes to software, Nokia 215 comes with quite a few apps and services pre-installed, such as Facebook and Messenger, Opera Mini, Bing Search, MSN Weather, SLAM technology, as well as Twitter.
