New No Man’s Sky gameplay emerged during the PlayStation Experience event this weekend in Las Vegas.

Hello Games boss Sean Murray showcased a brand new video, offering us a glimpse into the world of No Man’s Sky, during the PlayStation Experience opening keynote.

The demo shown at the event was reportedly running on a PlayStation 4 home console in real time, and was not pre-rendered footage or any other malarkey that publishers and developers usually employ to drive up hype for their games.

Granted, No Man’s Sky ambitious premise and colorful, vibrant colors did a good enough job of hyping the game well before anyone knew what it would actually be about, making it one of the most anticipated indie games of 2015.

The news that the game would come to the PlayStation 4 home console instead of PC, as was originally announced, no doubt put a sad frown on many people’s faces, but Hello Games assured fans that they still didn’t forget their original goal.

While the team failed to clarify what exactly that meant at the time, there is still hope for the game making it over to other platforms, after its launch on Sony’s latest computer entertainment system, of course.

Brand new intergalactic footage

The gameplay videos shown so far included some of the wondrous worlds that players will be able to explore in the final version of No Man’s Sky, depicting purple dinosaurs, luxuriant vegetation, and more color than the Indian festival of love.

This time around though, the footage that Hello Games showcased was much more in tune with what the actual gameplay will look like, showing interplanetary travel aboard a spacecraft and how landing on a nearby planet is done seamlessly, by simply entering its atmosphere and going to wherever it is you want to go.

Leaving a planet is done in the same way, you simply hop into a spaceship and take off, piloting your craft to the next visible planet.

The trailer also included a sneak peek at the huge, procedurally generated galaxy that players will be able to explore. All the content is generated automatically, which means that the chance of two players seeing the same thing on any given planet is nil.

The developers revealed that the goal of the game is to reach the galaxy’s center, and that players will be able to interact in many ways with others in the game, but for the time being, the details on that are a bit murky.

No Man’s Sky will be released for the PlayStation 4 home console sometime in 2015.
