14 DAY TRIAL // Bobbi Kristina Brown, aka Krissi, the 21-year-old daughter of the late diva Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has been in a medically induced coma since January 31, after she was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia home.
For the first time since then, Nick Gordon, the longtime boyfriend she liked to refer to as her “husband,” who is now the target of a criminal investigation to determine if he’d played any part in her home accident, is speaking out.
Long and bitter family feud
Gordon’s statement comes hot on the heels of various statements from the Houston and Brown family saying that he was desperate to obtain visitation rights for Krissi, as the family had barred him from seeing her.
The family has been at odds with him for a very long time, even though he was raised by Whitney as if he were her child. That’s why he was dubbed by the media Krissi’s “adoptive brother,” because they had been brought up together. Whitney, however, never legally adopted Nick.
Trouble started sometime last year, when Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and one of her closest friends, obtained a restraining order against Gordon after he threatened her in person and on social media. Obviously, things were bad before too, but that’s when the rift became clear.
Hearing that police suspect foul play in Krissi’s accident and that they believe they have the right man in Nick must not have gone down well with the family. Last we heard from a member of the family, Nick was allegedly lawyering up to take them to court for what he believed was his right to see his girlfriend in the hospital.
Gordon addresses rumors, doesn’t go into details
That’s not true, an attorney for Gordon says for People magazine. Strangely, in his first statement in this sad case, Nick doesn’t say anything about the circumstances around Krissi’s accident or her condition right now, limiting himself to saying that he’s praying for her.
“Mr. Gordon's only concern is the recovery of Bobbi Kristina. He remains in constant prayer for his companion and he hopes to be reunited with her soon,” attorney Randy Kessler says. “Despite the incredible public interest, we ask and hope that this request can be resolved privately by Mr. Gordon and the family.”
Obviously, Nick can’t talk about being a suspect in the investigation or his feuds with the family, but those praying for Krissi were probably hoping for a bit more, like a minor update on her condition, at the very least.
Speaking of, the other day, one of Krissi’s aunts claimed in a TV interview that she’d opened her eyes and was improving, and that doctors were positive she would make a full recovery. Another family member is now saying that Krissi hasn’t shown signs of improvement since she was brought to the hospital.
Whitney Houston died 3 years ago and was also found in her bathtub, submerged in water and unresponsive. She had overdosed.
