Ubuntu Touch is working great on the Bq Aquaris and Nexus 4 devices, especially after the previous update, and now the developers are focusing on a new OTA upgrade that should also bring some interesting fixes.

After Canonical released their previous update for Ubuntu Touch, the developer said that they are moving on and they are working to change the base of the OS to Ubuntu 15.04. This is not an easy task and there are some problems, but that was to be expected. This is an important step for Ubuntu and the devs need to be sure that they don't introduce new bugs.

On the other hand, there are now Ubuntu phones in the wild and regular people are using them, not just some developers and aficionados. That means Canonical gets a lot more feedback and there are still some issues to be fixed before moving on to Ubuntu 15.04 as a base. That's why they decided to provide a new OTA update for the current installations and Canonical is now focusing on this task.

A new OTA update is in the works

Users reported great battery improvements after the last update was released, but there are still some issues that need to be ironed out. These are not huge problems, but a new OTA update should arrive this week to take care of them.

"A few more fixes are landing as we speak. There was a new oxide released already that's fixing some of the webbrowser issues that QA found during their testing. We will then switch our focus to the hotfix OTA. There are still some additional fixes that have been approved for landing for this archive and waiting in silos for sign-off. For instance, we have a fix for the scopes disappearing during updates from the store and some other goodies as well," said Canonical's Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak.

So, don't forget to check your phones this week and make sure that you upgrade Ubuntu as soon as possible.
