Nintendo has officially revealed the brand new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL models for both North America and Europe, showcasing in a video the wide array of new features added to the handheld platforms, not to mention their early February release dates.

The Nintendo 3DS has been around for quite some time and its rocky launch served as a lesson for new consoles to have approachable prices if they want to win over fans. However, thanks to quick moves and a series of impressive games, the 3DS is slowly but surely becoming a must-have device for hardcore Nintendo fans.

The new 3DS models are coming next month in the west

Now, after rolling out a series of devices based on it, such as the 3DS XL or the 2DS, Nintendo reveals the "new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL" models that will launch in February in western markets, after having already rolled out in its native Japan last year.

According to the Japanese company, the 3DS and its XL version are going to appear in Europe on February 13. However, North Americans will get only the 3DS XL in their territory on February 12. No reasoning was given about the lack of a regular 3DS in North America. What's more, it seems that the device isn't going to be sold with a power adapter, meaning that it can only be charged up via a USB connection.

Plenty of improvements are included

Among the major improvements, as you can see in the promo video below, is a faster CPU to speed up the gaming experience, not to mention an integrated second analog nub that's much smaller than the original one that's still placed in the left side of the device.

A better screen, head tracking, as well as interchangeable front and back plates are included with the 3DS, which should allow for way more customization options for fans of the handheld model.

You can expect to hear and see way more of the new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL in the following weeks. Until then, check out the video below.
