Manjaro Linux has received a new update pack and the developers have upgraded many of the core components and applications. This particular update was made available for testing more than a week ago and now it's ready in its stable form.

Manjaro is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, which is also 100% compatible with the repositories of that particular distribution. The makers of the operating system provides regular update packs, which usually brings all sorts of fixes and various improvements.

The latest iteration of Manjaro, 0.8.11, already got five such updates and we might just be half way. The developers are already working on the next version and they have no release date planned. It's also worth mentioning that the distribution doesn't follow a rolling release model, like Arch Linux does, but more of a traditional model with large upgrades made available from time to time.

This is not the last update for Manjaro 0.8.11

It's not unusual to get so many updates for Manjaro system, so users shouldn't look too surprised to see that so many things have been upgraded or changed. This is in fact a good thing.

"We have developed a solution for updating pacman properly without conflicts, that should also work with pamac, so tell us if you’ve had any issues (note: a 4-5 second disappearance of the pamac window is normal). This should also make it easier for future updates. We updated some of our kernels (3.10.64, 3.14.28, 3.17.8, 3.18.2). They all support early microcode loading now," say the devs.

The announcement also mentions the fact that Firefox 35.0, Thunderbird 31.4, and Flash plugin 11.2.202.429 have been added. If you already have the system installed and you perform regular updates, then you don't really have to do anything extra. You can download Manjaro 0.8.11 right now from Softpedia and upgrade your system through the regular channels.
