It has both a full-size and a micro-USB connector

Another week, another dual-USB flash drive. Although sometimes we get more than one such product release, so maybe that's not the best way to say it. Regardless, we've got another one to show you, courtesy of ADATA this time.

Unlike other dual-USB flash drives, and flash drives in general for that matter, the new product has a very unusual design.

Sure, there have been plenty of unusually shaped storage devices in the past, or unusually colored, but most of them still stuck to the rectangular or oval form.

The new ADATA UC330 Dual USB Flash Drive, however, only abides by those design norms half-way. Which is to say, one half looks normal and the other one is anything but.

It's a vase! It's a knife block! No, it's a coffee thermos

As you can see, we're having trouble establishing a resemblance between the cap of the microUSB connector and other objects around us. The drive looks normal enough without the brown cap, but add it and you get a really strange piece of work.

Especially if you remove it from the micro-USB connector and stuff it on top of the other end. It makes everything look like some weird, flat flower pot, with the USB flash drive itself as the flower.

Still, if the company only wanted to attract the attention of passersby and online buyers, it definitely achieved that end. And the contrast between the light grey of the drive shell and the coffee brown cap is just eye-turning enough without being strident.

The specs of the ADATA UC330 Dual USB Flash Drive

In addition to both full-size USB and micro-USB ports (both of which comply with the USB 3.0 performance standard of 5 Gbps), we're looking at three storage space options. Specifically, the newcomer can have 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB capacities.

Then there's the USB On-the-Go (OTG) support, which lets the drive work with smartphones and tablets as though the latter were full PCs. Not that there are many micro-USB drives, dual-interface or otherwise, that lack this ability nowadays.

Still, the new ADATA UC330 has an advantage over most in the support for USB 3.0, since others only have USB 2.0 performance.

Availability and pricing

The ADATA UC330 Dual USB Flash Drive ships with OStoGO and UFDtoGO software packages and is clad in zinc alloy with a silver finish (baring the black end cap with strap hole of course). The cap can act as a stand too. Sadly, the price was not mentioned anywhere.
