They are powered by dual-core FPU processors

Network-attached storage devices can have up to 8 bays, sometimes more if they come in blade form factor, but that much is ultimately unnecessary for home and small offices.

One or two bays are enough if the drive capacity support is large enough. In the case of Synology's two latest models, the top storage capacity for each drive is 6 TB.

That means that the top capacities for the new DS215j and DS115 are of 6 TB and 12 TB, respectively. A bit less when RAID mode is activated.

Average read speed can go as high as 111 MB/s, while writing speed can be of 87 MB/s on a good day. That's 19% faster write speed compared to Synology's previous-generation NAS devices.

All the while, power consumption is kept at a comfortably low 5.3 watts, or 13.4 watts when the NAS is really taxed.

Uses for the newcomers include backup and restore functions, media library storage, constant streaming and even surveillance recording.

In fact, there are two free IP camera licenses included with the DS215j, and you can link 10 of them to it (footage streaming at 240 FPS in 720p).

Other assets include USB 3.0 ports (lets you link flash drives and other things to the network) and a door that hides the drives from view on the front. Sadly, prices are unknown.
