A few map changes are also included in the patch

Valve has just rolled out a brand new patch for Counter-Strike: Global offensive, the first one of the new year, and the studio makes some pretty big changes to two of the most popular pistols – the P250 and the CZ75-Auto – not to mention a new case of weapon skins, including some stellar ones for the game's rare knives.

CS: GO has been around for quite some time now, but only towards the end of 2013 did the multiplayer-only first-person shooter enter the mainstream in terms of popularity. 2014 saw several huge eSports tournaments organized with the help of Valve, not to mention plenty of new maps and goodies for players.

Now, after bringing an overhauled version of classic map Train back in December, the studio has rolled out the first patch for 2015 for CS: GO, making quite a few changes while also introducing a new skin case for players to enjoy, via the official website.

A brand new case emphasizes knife skins

First up, there's the new Chroma Case, which includes some very impressive skins for plenty of popular weapons in the actual game. However, what's more important for players with plenty of disposable income, the case also has a series of very impressive rare knife skins. As you can see in the image above, the effects are very impressive, so expect high demand for the cases and the actual skins on the Steam Community Market.

Speaking of the market, the patch also introduces a new rule, as all keys purchased from the online marketplace now have a seven-day trade and market restriction. As such, you can't trade them or sell them for one week after you buy them from the market.

A few big gameplay changes are also included

Besides the actual case, the patch also introduces a few changes in terms of gameplay, as two of the most popular pistols have seen some drastic tweaks. The P250 now comes with just three ammo magazines, instead of the original five, while the CZ75-Auto nerf seen in the last major update has been reverted in terms of ammo and fire rate. As such, the pistol has 12 rounds in a mag and comes with two of them.

A few maps have also been tweaked slightly, as Dust 2 now has better bullet penetration through the arches in tunnels and a special Goose spray in the actual Goose area. Mirage has seen some bug fixes, while the new Train has several optimizations. Façade, which is available in the Operation Vanguard event, now has an updated radar and better fade distance on props.

Check out the full changelog below, while the actual patch is available for download via the Steam service.
