The new Bourne movie is still very much in the news. Since it was rumored that Matt Damon was interested in doing another movie, it's safe to say that people's excitement about the franchise has been reborn. Not that Jeremy Renner's movie was bad, it just wasn't as good as Damon's.

Last month, websites specializing in movie rumors claimed that Universal was in talks with Matt Damon to bring him back for another movie as the hard-boiled spy with amnesia, Jason Bourne. Matt's only condition for doing another movie was simple: get director Paul Greengrass on board.

Jeremy Renner hints that the new Bourne movie might star Damon and him as well

The confirmation that Damon was tapped to play Bourne never came, but today we are hearing new rumors and they claim that the studio now plans to attach Damon's version of the film with Renner's version.

In the 2012 spinoff, Renner played agent Aaron Cross, a spy from an evolved version of the program Bourne was entered in. Now Renner told Huffington Post that Matt's return doesn't necessarily mean he's out of the picture.

“I think it really opens up the world and it keeps Bourne’s character active,” Renner said, and then added a juicy hint “I think Cross’ character is already going to continue to be active. I think it will take creatives to bring them together, which is what I think is ultimately the plan.”

Notice that Renner never really claims the project is the studio's idea, and he never really confirms it either. It's all just a conjecture, something he's thought about in his head, but it's clear to see that there's been some talks and that the idea was put on the table during these talks.

Renner is excited for the pairing and wants the team to get together as soon as possible

From the sound of things, Renner is excited to be part of the franchise and he's willing to step up to the plate, no matter what the conditions are “I love the idea of Greengrass and Damon. or whatever it might be, let them be adversaries, let them become buddies, whatever the heck it might be, them coming together would be a pretty tremendous thing.”

Previous reports indicated that Universal was keen to greenlight the project and had even set aside the release date slot, July 2016, well ahead of the spin-off with Jeremy Renner which was already scheduled to start production.

The only issue now is convincing all the people involved to get behind this project (Greengrass still hasn't said yes, and neither had Damon for that matter). For Renner, it might also be an issue to find the time to do this movie, since he's still got numerous Marvel project to finish. But he sounds excited enough about the project to make room in his calendar for it.
