The development team at Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros. might have disappointed a lot of fans by announcing that they are delaying the title until the middle of next year, and the most recent gameplay-focused trailer is clearly designed to regain their trust and show off some of the new features that will be part of the experience.

The footage is about 3 minutes long, but it is action-packaged, with plenty of details for the potential player base to explore for days.

Batman is shown as he is attacking Ace Chemicals, which Scarecrow has previously taken over and has used to produce weapons that he needs in order to reach one of his main aims.

The action starts off as the Dark Knight is exploring the environments, filled with plenty of details and pretty rain effects, in order to take out enemy goons and to try and find some of the workers that were trapped inside.

The new fear takedown makes a first appearance and plenty of on-foot combat is shown, with Rocksteady eager to convince players that none of the core systems of the game has been changed significantly, but all of them include some new concepts.

Then the Batmobile roars into action and the nature of Batman: Arkham Knight shifts visibly, with more of an emphasis on major setpieces and a host of new abilities, including some cool support moves which allow Batman to take on new enemies.

A second part of the Ace Chemicals video for the new title will be shown at the coming PlayStation Experience event.

Batman: Arkham Knight will complete the current narrative arc

The development team at Rocksteady has already said that the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight is designed to close down the current arc of the series by allowing the protagonist to face off against the most powerful enemy he has ever encountered.

The addition of the Batmobile and a bigger open world are designed to lure long-term fans back to the franchise, and the graphics are also improved in order to draw in modern players who have not played previous entries.

Batman: Arkham Knight is supposed to be out on June 2 of next year on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Gamers who are ready to place a pre-order will get access to a special set of content which includes the ability to play as Harley Quinn.
