The Xbox One has just gotten its first massively multiplayer online role-playing game today, in the form of Neverwinter.

Things are starting to look better and better for console gamers who are in search of an MMO to sink their time into, as ZeniMax Online's The Elder Scrolls Online is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One systems this June, after having dropped its monthly subscription on PC.

The title was initially released on PC in 2013, receiving regular updates since then, available as a free-to-play game supported by in-game microtransactions. It is, however, possible to reach the level cap without spending any dough, but some of its content is gated.

In any case, the game is now available on the Xbox One home entertainment system from Microsoft, and users can download it and check it out without having to pay a dime.

Although Neverwinter normally requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription, publisher Perfect World is offering access to the MMO from now until Thursday, April 2, to all Xbox Live members, including those with free Silver accounts.

This means that you're just a 10 GB download away from jumping into the game and checking out the city of Neverwinter and its surroundings, and from taking part in some breath-taking adventures.

The Xbox One edition of the title has been updated in order to feel right at home on the platform, sporting a controller-friendly interface and Xbox Live friends list integration.

A huge world to explore and adventure in

The game has all the content in the PC version, including the Tyranny of Dragons expansion, enabling gamers to step into a fantasy worlds based on the Forgotten Realms setting from Dungeons & Dragons, the popular tabletop role-playing franchise.

The game features fast-paced action combat and epic dungeons to explore, as well as captivating storylines to follow, and a rich lore and history to uncover while delving into some of the most iconic locations of the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

This is developer Cryptic's first console release, so some issues might be experienced in the early days of Neverwinter's launch. However, the perk of playing on the Xbox One is that nobody is spamming the chat channels.

Publisher Perfect Worlds also mentioned a while back that it was working on a PlayStation 4 version of Neverwinter, but for the time being, there is no word on where it will be available to fans of Sony's home console.
