Developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Perfect World Entertainment announce that their free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game Neverwinter is coming to the Xbox One home console from Microsoft on March 31.

The game is based on Wizards of the Coast's popular Dungeons & Dragons franchise, a tabletop gaming set of rules that have seen many great adaptations over the years.

The game uses the Forgotten Realms setting and offers fans of the genre the chance to explore the vast city of Neverwinter and battle its many enemies.

Neverwinter features fast-paced action combat and challenges players to team up and delve through dangerous dungeons together searching for loot, and also provides a wealth of player versus player gameplay opportunities.

The game focuses on a strong storyline, offering an experience that is similar in many ways to the one in single-player role-playing games, with more emphasis on doing exciting things and enjoying the fantasy world, and less on farming mob spawns.

The game was initially released on PC back in June, 2013, and now console gamers will finally be able to enjoy the action.

The same game, a slightly different approach

The main challenge when transferring a PC game to consoles, especially a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is making sure that everything fits on the Xbox One controller.

The team at Cryptic Studios has worked hard to ensure that the game is fully playable without the need for a keyboard and mouse setup, and all Xbox Live Gold members will be able to access it for free.

Furthermore, the game will also make use of some of the Xbox One's specific features, such as friends list integration.

Neverwinter will include all the content from the base game at launch and all currently playable races, among which the Scourge Warlock. The game will also boast the Tyranny of Dragons expansion.

The game will become available starting March 31, worldwide.
