The information was imparted by a Netflix representative on the company's Live Chat and it seems to be legit

Netflix recently got in touch with the Ubuntu developers to ask them to update a library in the latest 14.04 LTS release that would allow for native playback on that platform. Now, it looks like they are also working on an app for Ubuntu Touch.

Canonical has been developing Ubuntu Touch for the last couple of years and they are almost finished with the OS. It’s very close to a shippable version that can be used on phones sold in stores, but the company also needs many apps, preferably from some of the major companies.

Neither Netflix nor Canonical has made any official announcement, but it looks like Netflix is working on a native app for Ubuntu Touch and they are preparing to launch it soon. An Ubuntu user, Chibueze Anakor, has published a screen capture of a conversation between him and a Netflix representative in the company's Live chat.

"You're on right train of thought with this one! Look out for the touch version soon. It's just that we have to take it one step at a time, but we just couldn't keep Ubuntu users in the dark for too long. Look out for only good things from us and Ubuntu in the future."

Keep in mind that this information hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's not all that improbable. We'll keep you apprised with any official info on this subject.
