Producers scramble to get new actresses lined up

Despite promising much more depth than the shallow JOBS biopic starring Ashton Kutcher, Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming Steve Jobs movie seems doomed. Word on the streets of Hollywood is that Natalie Portman, the leading female actress in the Universal film, has decided to leave her role to someone else.

Not citing any sources, Variety reports that despite engaging in discussions to join the “Jobs” crew before the Thanksgiving break, Portman has now “parted ways with the female lead in the Steve Jobs biopic.”

Portman is at least the third actor involved in the movie penned by Aaron Sorkin who pulled out of the project. This is the latest tumble the movie took after several high-profile actors, including Leo DiCaprio and Christian Bale, decided that the film was not for them. Universal agreed to take the film off Sony’s hands last month, in what further spurred beliefs that the motion picture might have lost its window of opportunity.

The role of Steve Jobs will be played by Michael Fassbender, according to the latest word from producers Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon, and Guymon Casady. One actor who hasn’t barged since casting started appears to be Seth Rogen, who will reportedly act out co-founder Steve Wozniak. You know, the guy who made all the computers.
