Good news for NASCAR franchise fans, as developer DMi Games has just announced it has acquired “certain NASCAR-related assets from Eutechnyx,” which will allow it to team up with NASCAR Team Properties to purchase “certain exclusive licensing rights” as part of a multi-year agreement.

DMi has also confirmed that it is already hard at work on multiple titles, including “an all-new NASCAR racing sim” for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, which is expected to be released in 2016.

Along with the “certain NASCAR-related assets” purchased from Eutechnyx, DMi also confirmed it has acquired some existing NASCAR games, including NASCAR Manager, which will be re-released soon.

The update to Eutechnyx's NASCAR 2014, which the company was working on will eventually be released this spring. This would be a season update to the existing game and will contain some fixes. It will be available online only for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Obviously, it won't be made by DMi.

But who is DMi, anyway?

In case you're wondering who DMi is, then here are some of the details Ed Martin, the president of the company, offered to NASCAR fans in an open letter.

Ed Martin was involved in NASCAR video games for many years starting in the early 90s when he worked at Papyrus before the first NASCAR Racing PC game was launched.

He then jumped ships to Hasbro, then EA Sport, and most recently he was managing “the business side of Eutechnix' NASCAR games.”

DMi's CEO is Tom Dusenberry, who was the founder and president of Hasbro Interactive. He's also a huge NASCAR fan.

“We are thrilled to be working with NASCAR Team Properties in building a fast growing world class interactive game publisher. We have the right team in place to partner with NASCAR Team Properties to build and grow the NASCAR digital games business.

“We are NASCAR fans, first and foremost, and look forward to growing NASCAR's digital gaming business through quality and innovation,” said Philip Falcone, HC2 chairman, president and CEO.
