As long as the browser has Javascript support, all the games in the new Humble Bundle collection should work

In a surprising move today, Mozilla and Humble Bundle partnered up to provide a new collection of games, but with a twist. With the help of some new technologies, it's now possible to play some of the new games just in the browser.

Playing games inside the browser is not something new. Google Chrome has been doing it for a while, there are some add-ons and plugins that enable games built with the Unity engine to run inside a browser, and there is even a version of Quake that can do the same thing.

So, you must be wondering what the fuss is about. Well, it seems that Mozilla wants to point out the fact that their browser, Firefox, is just as able and ready to be a platform for players. It needs support from the developers, but it works and it seems to be doing a great job.

The games of The Humble Mozilla Bundle

Even if the games do run in the browser, it doesn't mean that you can't also play them individually on your computer or with Steam. This is, after all, a Humble Bundle collection and the same rules apply.

"Big name indie games playable right in your browser! No more plug-ins. No more installers. Pure gaming goodness is now accessible straight from the browser you already use."

"Pay what you want for full-fledged indie games you can play right now: Super Hexagon, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome, Osmos, Zen Bound 2 and Dustforce DX. If you pay more than the average price, you'll also get Voxatron and FTL: Faster Than Light Advanced Edition. Those who pay $8 or more will receive all of the above plus Democracy 3. Select soundtracks are available, too!" reads The Humble Mozilla Bundle entry.

As usual, you can pay what you want for the collection, but if you want to also get Steam keys, you will have to give at least $1 (€0,80). There is a second tier, but only one game is included, Democracy 3, and you will need to pay at least $6 (€4,70). The list on the website also says that another game will be unlocked at a later date.

All the titles included in The Humble Mozilla Bundle are Linux-compatible (and have been for a very long time). The only requirement to play the titles in a browser is to have an app that can run Java scripts, meaning at least Google Chrome version 28 or Firefox 28.

Enjoy!
