In the form of discounts on Moto X Pure Edition

Motorola promised it would upgrade the ATRIX HD to Android 4.4 KitKat, but the company did not deliver on that promise yet. But the bad news doesn't stop here, as the US-based company confirmed the smartphone would never receive the promised upgrade.

This means that Motorola ATRIX HD that was available at AT&T will remain on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, unless owners upgrade it through unofficial means.

However, Motorola apologized on Google+ and announced a special offer for those who own the AT&T ATRIX HD smartphone, which will never see an Android 4.4 KitKat update.

“We apologize that we and AT&T will not be upgrading Atrix HD to Android KitKat, as we had hoped. We know how important software upgrades are to our customers, and we're very sorry that our two organizations were unable to follow through in this case.

“We would like to offer something to people who purchased this device when we believed we would be able to offer the upgrades.

“We know that some of our Atrix HD users will still be disappointed, but we hope that this helps to make amends,” said David Schuster, Motorola's senior director, Software Product Management.
