14 DAY TRIAL // Good news for Indian customers looking for an affordable smartphone that will allow them to connect to 4G networks, as Motorola has just released the Moto E (2nd Gen) in the country.
This updated version of Motorola Moto E comes with 4G LTE support and a few more improvements over the original model that was released in India last spring.
Customers that want a slightly better Moto E can now grab the second-generation version for just Rs 7,999 outright ($127 or €118) via major retailer Flipkart.
Apart from 4G support, the Moto E (2nd Gen) also sports larger 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution. The original model has a smaller 4.3-inch display with the same resolution.
Both displays feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating, so there are no differences here. Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) is equipped with a much better 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.
It comes with better CPU and storage, as well as front-facing camera
The smartphone also packs 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). On the other hand, the original Moto E is powered by a lower 1.2GHz dual-core processor and packs only 4GB of storage.
Another improvement would be the addition of the VGA front-facing camera for video calls, whereas the Moto E lacks one. However, both smartphones feature 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras, but only the newest model provides autofocus and HD (720p) video recording.
Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, so there's no need to wait for the latest version of Google's platform to be deployed as update.
Last but not least, Motorola included a larger 2,390 mAh battery, which is much better than Moto E's non-removable 1,980 mAh battery.
Other highlights of the Moto E (2nd Gen) include dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS support, FM Radio with RDS and microUSB 2.0.
