We have reported earlier today that NetherRealm's Ed Boon confirmed that Mortal Kombat X would be available on Android platform beginning May 5.

This is the same date on which the developer plans to release an important patch for the PC version of the game, which is supposed to bring it up to par with the console game.

Today NetherRealm will also launch the Jason Voorhees bundle, and those who already own the Kombat Pack will be able to download it for free.

Anyway, the Android version of Mortal Kombat X has been delayed for quite a long time. The game was initially slated for an early April release, along with the iOS game, but for unknown reasons it got postponed.

Even though developers stated that the Android game should be released within two weeks after the iOS version, that did not happen and it took NetherReal almost a month to make it available.

Mortal Kombat X for Android appeared on Google Play Store last week, but it was only available for download in a few countries. This means that NetherRealm has decided to soft-launch the game in order to test it before the general release.

You can now unlock rewards for the console version

True to their promise, developers have just made Mortal Kombat X available for download on Google Play store. The game is available for free to everyone, regardless of their region.

You can now download Mortal Kombat X for Android for free via Google Play Store. The game should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind that the game requires a minimum of 1.5GB of free space on the device. Also, developers have also confirmed that performance hasn't been optimized on devices with less than 1GB of RAM.

Make sure you disable the in-app purchase setting in case you don't plan on spending any real-money playing Mortal Kombat X for Android.
