Mortal Kombat X is a pretty hot topic right now, what with the recently announced mobile version and the fact that it's only a month away.

One of the reasons the upcoming fighting video game is so popular is the fact that there has been an extensive teasing campaign, full of leaks, painting a positive picture for it: it's going to introduce the most new characters in a Mortal Kombat game to date.

In addition to this, Mortal Kombat X will also see the return of a ton of popular characters from throughout the series, and since many people are still playing the 2011 reboot of the series, it has a pretty strong following.

Granted, developer NetherRealm Studios has done a terrific job rebooting the franchise, introducing a very exciting aspect to the mechanics themselves and a much more engaging story mode, the same model used for the very successful Injustice: Gods Among Us, a game that has a more interesting storyline than many of the comics it's based on do.

Mortal Kombat X is right around the corner

We’ve just got hit with a ton of leaks, outlining the possibility of seeing some of the classic Mortal Kombat characters in the upcoming game, namely Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Jax, depicted in a screenshot likely taken from a cutscene from the story mode.

NetherRealm Studios released a story trailer recently, focusing on the younger characters, on a new generation of fighters, but the screenshot above may hint at the fact that some of the members of the classic cast might make an appearance.

In addition to this, another leak on NeoGAF showed an in-game image pointing to the fact that Kenshi, the telekinetic swordsman, would be in the game too. Ed Boon himself teased the possibility of his return on Twitter, showing a snapshot from a motion capture sessions.

Other rumored characters include Liu Kang, Shinnok, Erron Black and Mileena.

Mortal Kombat X is coming out on April 14, 2015, headed to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms. A separate edition is also coming to Android and iOS devices, on the same date.
